A big description and write up for these guys since they
don't have a web presence as yet. I have borrowed some info
from MP3.COM and some that the band sent me.
Group members:
Aaron beehre - guitarHannah Beehre - organStephen McCarthy
- Vocals , snare , melodica
Artist history:
Formed in various bedrooms around summer 97
by Aaron and Stephen who nabbed themselves a 4 track and started
recording... put 2 eps out on cassette and generally distributed
it amongst friends.
In 1997 they tried out a so-called kick arse
drummer who's claim to fame was actually seeing the stone
roses play in 1990 but quickly ditched him when they found
out he couldn't tell his hi hats from his snare drum.
For a time the band decided they didn't need
a drummer....yet... so started playing a few live gigs around
christchurch with Stephen on snare with brushes and vocals
and Aaron on acoustic guitar.
This seemed to work pretty well only having
a slightly different set-up than the usual guitar, bass,
drum live setup.
As New Zealand music week approached, RDU
the local student Radio station called for music to play
in the week long event so PINE found some recording software
for the imac and recorded "rich".
The vocals weren't too hot and our recording
skills were in their infancy but it seemed to stike a chord
with the station manager at rdu and got heaps of airplay.
She rang us up and said it was..."the favourite song of
the week"...
Unfortunately graeme the ever popular breakfast
host who we think likes the song introduced it as " here's
one by those sissy boys...pine"
- They haven't forgiven him yet.
Trying to get rid of the sissy image recorded the slightly
more rocky track "inhaling".
"It helped...and got played heaps on
theradio We then got asked for the next NZ Music week to
go and play a live to Air acoustic set for 40 mins,"
says Stephen
"This was brilliant... no major cock
ups and from this the cd "the rdu sessions" was born...
a new dam cd available on mp3.com."
The track INHALING just got selected for
the latest indie hit disc in NZ... and things look
like they could be good for the band.

These guys are hard to pigeon hole. They hail from Perth,
Western Australia and they're pretty good. They play live
even though their music is pretty computer/sequenecer oriented
which is cool.
Description:
[ cell 7 ] are a popular alternative electronic band from
Perth Western Australia. Their appeal stems largely from
the fact that they are indeed an original sounding act,
combining cutting edge and often harsh electronics with
strong vocal melodies and solid song structure. This results
in many people having difficulty categorizing [ cell 7 ],
but has lent itself to the band having a very broad fanbase.

We played the song Fragility
from the band. Here is their own description of the track.
A popular live track for us, though its hardly upbeat.
Originally written just so we could learn a new synth
that we bought...but it turned out much better than we
had anticipated! The vocal melody is a personal favourite
of ours. Soon to be rerecorded.
