[Note: the track we played was Rosalie.
From their web site:
- "Music fuelled by passion is a rare combination - it unleashes the soul, and fires
the imagination. Ultraviolet are two young songwriters whose passion and physical presence
is as compelling as the music they create."
- Ultraviolet is (or are) Chris Budiselic and Dave Ellis.
- By their own admission, the music they make does not come about overnight, it has taken
years of dedication.
- The Ultraviolet sound is a blend of soaring melodies, pop grooves and passionate lyrics
that leaves an indelible impression.
- "The enthusiasm and energy of this band is equally contagious. Formerly from Perth,
Chris Budiselic looked to Melbourne several years ago in a search of a wider musical
arena. A chance meeting with guitar player Dave Ellis led to many gigs together in several
different bands before they discovered a singular ambition - to become songwriters of
note. Consequently they combined their talents and have since devoted all of their time,
money and energy toward writing, recording and promoting their songs. "
- Recently, After making the finals at the Garageband 'Hall of
Fame' $250,000 song competition late last year, Ultraviolet have been entered into the
garageband.com hall of fame. (January 2000)

- The band formed in 1995 in Christchurch NZ.
- After recording and releasing a couple of EPs and an album (including Democity EP
(1995), That Clean Fresh Taste 7" EP (1996), Super 8 Mayhem CD (1997), Slot Jockey
7" EP (1998) ), they moved North to the big smokes of Wellington and Auckland. Since
then they have released another EP, and their latest album -- She's the Bomb.
- "Q":
Lava Magazine calls DEBRIS MUSIC that the music an aggressive and well-crafted brand of
dark pop.
- The track we played is the CD opener called Rocket Liner. It is an appropriate
beginning as Lava Mag notes, it ignites the mayhem with heady, outer-space
atmospherics, static crackling throughout and a frantically spinning chorus. Best played
loud, the songs reverberate with strong bass grooves and frenzied guitar bursts.
