About the Artist:
- Australia's The rUg have been described as having the wit of the Presidents of the
United States, the drive of the Stones, and melodies inspired by the Beatles. They're a
pop/rock band who play unashamedly catchy tunes. A starting point can be traced to early
1996, with Jonathan Duvall and Jim Morgan forming the nucleus of the band from the ashes
of a popular covers band. The rUg began life in Queanbeyan and have released 3 CDs since
1997.
- Their latest effort is an Ep that you can get for a steal from their website and the
single we played is also available. It is a very catchy tune.
Band Members:
- After a few false starts a strong lineup has been consolidated with Paul Maclay on
guitar and vocals, Dan Fernandez on keys and vocals, Ben Lea on bass, Jim Morgan on drums,
and Jonathan Duvall on guitar and vocals.
General:
- Not taking anything they do too seriously, The rUg still has the uncanny ability to
perform brilliant shows where ever they are playing. Recent times have seen them playing
many a gig around town, and building upon their ever-growing fan base where ever they go.

***This MP3 was only available for a limited time from the artists web page. However,
their full length is now out - and it "rolls." Tres Excellent!
The following exerpt is stolen from The Stereo Bus webpage:
- "Brand New" has been released - it's in the shops, it's bright pink
(obviously), it'll cost you around the usual price... If you live in Australia you should
be able to buy it over there sometime in February 2000...
- We'll be touring New Zealand to celebrate our new baby some time late November/early
December - it'll be a main centres kind of thing, so keep popping back here for date/venue
info we'll update this page as soon as we know what's happening (probably next week)...
- In 1997, The Stereo Bus debut album (featuring a pink dayglo bus on the cover) was
nominated for album of the year at the NZ music awards, won album of the year at the b.net
music awards and was enjoyed by Bic Rungas' mother in her kitchen in Christchurch.
- David Hunt only eats vegetables..... and seafood on occassion..... (and one night he had
a KFC burger and possibly a steak on another night)..... but other than that he is
STRICTLY vegetarian.
- Our Bobby Kennedy (drums) seems to be OK..... but we do worry.
- The Stereo Bus were invited to tour with Bic Runga on her "Drive" album
release tour. The band met with Bic's mother briefly at the Christchurch show and
found her very pleasant.
- Alan Gregg, who used to be in "The Muttonbirds", has been very involved with
"The Stereo Bus" ever since it began. He played bass on the debut album
progressing to glockenspiel on the new one.
- The Stereo Bus have been known to call their music sissy pop.
- The Stereo Bus is spelt as three separate words.
- The Stereo Bus turned down the Oasis support.
- The Stereo Bus don't "Rock"..... they ROLL.....
