DOWNUNDER UPOVER PLAYLIST FOR March 08, 2000

The playlist goes something like this...

[ ARTIST, TRACK, LABEL ]

Bodyjar have finished recording their new disc and are playing some gigs in celebration. Yaay. So we celebrated too.

  • BODYJAR, glossy books, Shock
  • EMINEM, my name is, (from mp3)
  • ED KUEPPER, ring of fire, Hot Records

We played the Eminem track because it featured the instrumental version of back in black and we had a couple of ACDC related news stories this week. The strangest was that someone paid US$28,000 for a private lesson with Angus Young....
Ed Kuepper is taking a break from recording and stuff and is currently doing a bunch of dates.

We've had a number of requests for some older material and artists that aren't necessarily together and recording. One of them is My Friend the Chocolate Cake for Adrian from Tasmania.

  • MY FRIEND THE CHOCOLATE CAKE, A Midlifes Tale, unk
  • REBECCA'S EMPIRE, Always something there to remind me,
  • FRANK BENNET, under the bridge, Polydor

Finally, we got around to a TUIS 2000 update with our NZ Direct reporter Aaron Anderson. He gave us the low down on who won and some more of the gossip. We only had time to play some of the music from artists honoured at the TUIS but we'll play more next week.
For a full listing of winners at the 2000 TUIS go here.

  • WETA, where have you been, warner
  • SHIHAD, home again, polygram
  • Stellar, Violent, EPIC
  • THE STEREO BUS, Hey thank you, EMI

Stellar and Boh Runga pretty much ran away with the evening at the Tuis which celebrate record sales and stuff like that.

On MP#.ZONE, a part of the DUUO program, we celebrate independent music and people doing things on their own. There are a lot of free MP3's out there and this week we featured [cell7] from Oz and Pine from NZ.

  • [CELL7], fragility, indie mp3 oz
  • PINE, inhaling, indie mp3 nz

For a full write up on pine and cell7 check out session 5 of mp#.zone

That's it fer now.
