News Briefs:
PEABODY has completed its second album titled, 'The New Violence'. The
album will be out in March 2005, but there will be a single out in October
called 'Got You On My Radar'. The
single will be supported by a national tour, including dates in Western
Australia.
PACIFIER have changed their name back to SHIHAD. This week they are heading
to Vancouver to record their sixth album and have confirmed they they
are Shihad again.
Some of the biggest names in Australian rock - including Powderfinger,
Jet, John Butler Trio, GRINSPOON, Pete Murray, Cat Empire, George, the
Whitlams, 28 DAYS and Missy Higgins have contributed tracks to Homelands:
Music For A Just Australia. The compilation is meant to raise money for
A Just Australia, a not for profit organisation formed in 2002 to campaign
for changes to government policy on refugee and asylum seekers. $8 from
each sale goes to the association.
ROSE TATTOO and Brisbane hip hopsters RESIN DOGS are the latest to be
added to the bill of Rock For The Roses benefit. Held at the Myer Music
Bowl in Melbourne on October 31 from 11 am, it is a fund raiser for Cystic
Fibrosis Victoria. Also included on the bill are Tex Perkins, Chris Whitley,
Penny Ikinger, the Kelly Gang, Jerome Smith and his band, Bomba, Ross
Wilson & The Urban Legends, Rob Draper, Girl pilot, The Knockabouts
and Josh Owen.
The CASANOVAS, who have just returned home from a trip to New York City
and are now heading off to Japan to join forces with The Datsuns. The
Cassies will do a national tour before the end of the year.
