NEWS:
* Something For Kate have been confirmed to open for the Australian
leg of David Bowie's "A Reality Tour."
* Vulture Street, the new disc from Powderfinger has been certified
five times platinum in Australia. A third single, "Sunsets"
is out next month and already second most played song on Australian radio.
* Daniel Johns and Paul Mac have announced the birth of
their new band, The Dissociatives. Both Johns and paulmac will work on
other projects in late 2004 and 2005. Silverchair is said to be on a hiatus,
but the Johns and paulmac consider The Dissociatives to be "more
than just a side project."
* Adelaide three piece Bit By Bats have signed with Architecture label
and will release their debut self titled EP next month. They will make
their Sydney debut at The Annandale on Fri Dec 19 with Gerling and Smudge
for the Level One Christmas Party. They will also male an appearance
on the Falls Festival main stage at midday on New Years Eve, then back
home to Adelaide to support Peaches.
* Wellington band, The Black Seeds, are heading to the US to perform
at a Lord of the Rings convention. This is happening courtesy of the popularity
of Fellowship of the Ring cult hero, Figwit (played by Black Seeds keyboardist
Bret McKenzie).
The Black Seeds have just completed their second studio album titled On
The Sun, due for release in early 2004.
