news:
* Powderfinger appear to be gearing up for a full national tour through
November and December.This will be in support of their new "Vulture
Street" album. In the meantime, "Odyssey Number Five" is
about to notch up its eighth platinum certification, for sales of 560,000.
* Alex Lloyd has completed recording his third album. The album is tentatively
titled "Distant Light". The lead off single "Coming Home"
is out next month. Mr. Lloyd's last album "Watching Angels Mend"
has sold triple platinum.
* The Art of Fighting will be doing two special shows in Sydney and Melbourne
before packing their bags for a tour of Japan in mid-August. They will
be playing at The Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy The Annandale Hotel.
* Androids drummer Marty Grech reports that they recently played at a
heavy rockfest called "Game On" at the Millennium Dome over
in rainy old England. Also on the bill were Reef and Kelly Osbourne. Werd
is that Kelly had the dressing room next to theirs, and the band have
proclaimed her "cool".
* Powderfinger, The Music, John Butler Trio, Magic Dirt, The Living
End, Frenzal Rhomb, The Superjesus and Veruca Salt are among those who
will be stepping up to sign their lives away for charity. The official
Splendour In the Grass Soundwaves / Channel [V] signing tent will be open
for business this weekend for the festival. Each punter who queues up
to receive a signature will be asked to buy a raffle ticket with all proceeds
going towards a local charity. The beneficiary of this year's big Splendour
raffle is the Byron Youth Activities Centre - more commonly known as YAC.
* The Superjesus will be doing a nation al tour from July 30 til August
23 in support of the single 'Over and Out'. The single is the second taken
from their new album 'Rock Music'. The band will be supported on the tour
by Skulker.
