The 2002 Juice TV Awards were held in Auckland last Monday. Goodshirt took out the overall Best Video Award for "Sophie". Auckland "nu-metallers" Blindspott won Breakthrough Video Artist and Rubicon picked up the prize for Best Indie Video with their single "Happy Song". New Zealand dubsters Salmonella Dub start touring again this week in support of a remix album called 'Outside The Dubplates'. The Outside The Dubplates tour kicks off at Altitude in Hamilton on Thursday September 5th.

The 2002 b.net New Zealand Music Awards are approaching and plans for the event keep getting bigger and better. For the first time ever, the awards will be accompanied by 'Heads Up!!!', a compilation co-release through b.net, Amplifier.co.nz and Festival Mushroom Records. The comp features Shapeshifter, TrinityRoots, Deceptikonz and Pine as well as special bFM live-to-air versions of tracks by Betchadupa, Xanadu and The D4.

Australian all-girl band Lash head off this week to Romania to play the Golden Stag Festival (4th to 8th of September), a premier music event showcasing some of the best up and coming bands from all corners of the globe. Up to 10,000 people come a year to the picturesque town of Brasov is a massive outdoor concert set against the mountains of old Transylvania. It has featured artists such as INXS, Kylie Minogue, James Brown and Christina Aguilera. Lash have just completed the first tour of East Timor since it became a nation in 2001.
