UMFM 101.5 FM Music Logs Wednesday 9:00 - 10:00 pm
Show Name: downunder upover
Host Name: lynnie and eugenius
Date: 4-Apr-01
Hi all,
Well things are hectic in this part of the world as it is exam time again.
Lotsa anxious peeple mulling about and peeking in to see what we do on
Wednesday nights... kinda exciting. Next week we are joined by Oz music
lover Mark and the week after a listener named John is going to pop in
to see us. Funny how many people dig what we do at DownUnder UpOver...
Madison Avenue lead things off in the music news this week. Lynnie likes
'em, I don't - but we played them anyway. Apparently the band were celebrating
last week in the wake of "Who The Hell Are You" topping the
U.S. dance charts. They picked up the prestigious Best Dance Act beating
out nominees Madonna, N'Sync and Britney Spears. I guess congratulations
are in order.
Artist - Track (Label)
- madison avenue, don't call me baby (EMI)
- kylie minogue, your disco needs you (Mushroom)
- fiona mcdonald, damage control (Flying Nun)
As though you needed proof that cricketers are cool: Cricketer Brett
Lee joined Skunkhour onstage after the Cleo Bachelor of the Year awards
in Sydney.
- skunkhour, kick in the door (Grudge)
- not from there, juanita's cocktail party (Infectious)
- screamfeeder , sweet little orange (Shock)
Brisbane's Not From There and Screamfeeder will be teaming up for a bunch
of shows in the near future and New Zealand's Zed are kicking arse in
Oz. They had an impressive debut at the Colonial Stadium in Melbourne
and will open for Coldplay when the British band returns to tour between
August 3 to 10. Coldplay's singer Chris Martin chose Zed to open for them
after seeing them at the Auckland end of Big Day Out.
- grinspoon, rock show (Grudge)
- big heavy stuff, devil's tongue (V2)
- zed, renegade fighter (Universal)
- breathe, don't stop the revolution (Sony)
And, in other NZ music news:
Wellington band Fur Patrol have launched a "flashy" new website
at www.furpatrol.com and the kiwis keep heading across the Tasman. The
gossip this week is that Wellington band Breathe are thinking about heading
to Sydney. Check out http://www.breathe.co.nz for official word on the
imminent move.
- you am I, damage (EastWest)
- magic dirt, dirty jeans (East/West)
- resin dogs, say ya (EMI)
That's all for now.
